It's called 'Ignorant Sh*t'

and that is a great title and it's from Jay-Z and it's featuring Philly's Beanie Sigel and it's my song of the week and you can...

Listen to it here.

And I'm pretty damn excited for this album to drop (yeah, I know it leaked already).

And end post.

2008 Movie Preview Part II

Thanks again to slashfilm.

Last week's Part I

9. The Lovely Bones - Summer 2008. I know nothing about this movie other than the plot premise, but the idea of someone narrating from Heaven seems cool. Plus, Marky Mark has a helluva streak going.

10. The Happening - June 13. I've loved the last 2 M. Night joints a lot, despite the general consensus, and word on the street is The Happening is his best script since Bruce Willis was dead.

11. Get Smart - June 20. Could be absolute crap. We'll see.
Trailer

12. The Dark Knight - July 18. What more can I say?
Trailer

13. Pineapple Express - August 8. Until Apatow let's me down, I've got to ride with him.

14. Where the Wild Things Are - October 3. Who? SPIKE JONZE! Sorry... Great book, great director, I'm excited.

Be back next week to round out the last quarter of 2008.

Ugh

That's the only word I can use to accurately describe how I feel after watching this:

Thanks Deadspin.

New Popcorn Review (gasp): Ritz Theatres

Specifically, the Ritz East.

Checked out We Own the Night this weekend and was impressed by the movie, as well as the popcorn. Not my first trip to the Ritz but since I was starving, I paid close attention to the concessions, which are amazingly affordable.

The Good: The butter was applied by what seemed to be a butter applying expert, just the perfect amount. I asked for no salt, and got no salt. Genius. I spent 10 minutes wondering why it tasted so good compared to other area theaters.

I realized, the thing that made it perfect was: they didn't try to improve on an already perfect snack. Just popped the damn popcorn, put it in a bag, and sold it. How hard is that?

Needless to say, 45 minutes into the movie the popcorn was gone. And no gassy stomachache afterwards!

The Bad: A lot of loose shells, but magically avoided getting stuck in my teeth. Helps that I was swallowing kernels whole due to my borderline starvation.

The Ugly: After my girl reached into the bag three times, I threatened to buy another bag because it was too good.

The Random: Eva Mendes' booby seemingly pops out in this movie, but I'm pretty sure it was a body double. The breast looked nothing like I imagined it.

Official ALP Rating: 4.75 outta 5

Well said

This video applies to more than just rappers too. Athletes, actors, and those who are successful in various other industries.

I can't excuse the behavior of T.I. or Mike Vick, but I think Jay Smooth presented a solid viewpoint.

Well, 2008 has to be better than 2007... right?

Inspired by SlashFilm's "55 Must See Movies in 2008", ALP presents you with "Aaron's Pretty Sure These Movies Are Gonna Be At Least Alright".

1. Fanboys - January 18th. Could suck. Hope it doesn't.
Trailer

2. Be Kind Rewind - January 23rd. If you read ALP, you already know.
Trailer

3. Jumper- February 15th. Same as above.
Trailer

4. 10,000 BC - March 7th. Looks interesting enough to me. I wonder how historically inaccurate it will be.
Trailer

5. Harold and Kumar 2 - April 4th. I'm pretty excited.
Trailer

6. Iron Man - May 2nd. I refuse to watch the trailer for this movie, I don't want any expectations going into it. I mean, other than this.
Trailer

7. Speed Racer - May 9th. Hells Yeah!!! This movie could suck kumquats (popped in my head), I'm seeing it.

8. Righteous Kill - Summer. I'm on the fence with this one, but with DeNiro and Pacino, how could it not be decent?

Part 2 coming later this week.

If Michael Caine says it, then it's true

I generally avoid any pre-movie hype (low expectations are the best thing to have going into a movie... and of course popcorn) but Caine's recent comments are pretty interesting:

“I tell you the big surprise in the new ‘Batman’ — Heath Ledger as the Joker,” Caine told reporters in New York Tuesday. “He’s fantastic. He’s gone in a different direction than Jack (Nicholson) … Jack was like a really scary old, nasty old uncle with a funny face. Heath is like the most murderous psychopath you’ve ever seen on the screen,” Caine said.

Jack Nicholson: like a scary old nasty uncle? Since when?

If the photo on the left is any idea what we're in for, then I'm a little anxious... and scared :(

A music post

I could hit you with that new Wu-Tang jawn, or maybe the new 50 video from his upcoming mixtape, but I think I'll keep it Philly instead.

North meets South. North and South Philly, that is.

Check out this new joint by Young Chris featuring Black Thought: My Part of Town; it's off of the Young Gunna's new mixtape, Politically Incorrect. You already know what Thought can do and I've been rooting for Chris since the first Young Gunz album. The former State Property and The Roots have collabed a lot over the years and everytime the results are excellent.
